HNP exec: Sara Duterte ‘not interested’ in Duterte-Duterte tandem for 2022 polls
MANILA, Philippines — Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio is “not interested” in partnering up with her father, President Rodrigo Duterte, in the 2022 presidential and vice-presidential elections, an official of Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) said Wednesday.
HNP spokesperson Anthony del Rosario made the remark after Duterte-Carpio topped the list of presidential bets while President Duterte led the list of vice-presidential candidates in the latest Pulse Asia survey—fueling talks of a possible partnership between the two in next year’s elections.
“Nabanggit din ni Mayor Sara that she’s not interested and she does not see a Duterte-Duterte tandem,” Del Rosario said in a press briefing.
“So nabanggit nya na kung may planong tumakbo ang tatay niya bilang bise presidente at mayroong ine-endorso si Presidente Digong as a presidential candidate at ka-tandem niya, then Sara and of course HNP will support President Duterte as vice president and President Duterte’s choice for presidential candidate,” he added.
Duterte-Carpio is the chairperson of the regional party HNP while President Duterte chairs the ruling PDP-Laban party.

Further, the survey also listed President Duterte as the top choice for Vice President at 18 percent but is almost tied with Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso at 14 percent.
