BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — An Ethiopian student was shot and killed by three robbers when he tried to fight them off on Dominican Road here on Monday morning, police said.

Insp. Karissma Sta. Juana, spokesperson of the Baguio City police, said Senai Mehary Kiros, 22, a student of the AMA Computer College here, was waiting for a ride home with Korode Aderinsola Ogundele, 26, a Nigerian student of the University of Baguio, when three men wearing ski-masks approached them and announced a holdup at 1:40 a.m.

Kiros tried to ward them off but one of the robbers shot him in the back. He died while being taken to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center. Ogundele, however, was unhurt.

Police said the robbers took the mobile phones of Kiros and Ogundele.
