New COVID-19 cases in Olongapo City rise anew

OLONGAPO CITY—The number of active COVID-19 cases in this city was back to the 200-mark Sunday after more new infections were logged than recoveries, local health data showed.

At least 16 new COVID-19 patients, aged 21 to 62, were added to the city’s growing list. Seven virus-infected patients have been cleared of the disease on the same day.

With the latest infections, the city’s current active cases have climbed to 201 after dropping to 193 in the previous day.

To date, the city has registered 2,694 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began last year. But 2,345 of them had healed.

A single COVID-19-related death was also logged on the same day, pushing the city’s death toll to 148.

The city is still monitoring 47 suspected infections based on the latest local virus data.
