AFP identifies 8 more military personnel killed in Sulu C-130 crash

MANILA, Philippines — The remains of eight more military personnel who were killed in the July 4 crash of a C-130 transport plane in Sulu have been identified, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) said Sunday.

The AFP, in a statement, said that with the identification of the eight military personnel,  the bodies of 28 crash victims have so far been identified. The AFP earlier released a list of fatalities with the bodies yet to be identified.

“The families of the recently identified soldiers were already officially informed,” the AFP said in a statement.

The AFP said it is already arranging air and land transport to bring the remains of the crash victims to their relatives.

The military added that it is having a hard time identifying the bodies of the crash victims as many of them were badly burned.

Killed in the crash were 47 military personnel aboard the C-130 plane and three civilians on the ground.
