Man arrested for goat theft in Oriental Mindoro yields drugs

CITY OF CALAPAN – Authorities seized drugs from a man who was initially arrested by police on Sunday afternoon (July 11) for stealing the goat of a village councilor in Bongabong town in Oriental Mindoro province.

According to a report from the Oriental Mindoro police, suspected thief Reymark Garga, 28, was arrested at 1:50 p.m. in Barangay (village) Anilao after village councilor Nathaniel Maborrang reported to police that his goat was allegedly stolen by the suspect.

Maborrang told police at 12:30 p.m. that he discovered his goat was missing at 8 a.m. and learned that it was sold for P3,500 to Melvin de Belen, a resident of Barangay Sagana.

Police confiscated from Garga four sachets of suspected shabu (crystal meth) weighing about 0.04 grams valued at P2,000 when he was searched.

The suspect is now under police custody and will be charged for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
