MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday reported 5,916 new COVID-19 cases to bring the country’s caseload to 1,473,025.

Of the total number of cases, 49,701 or 3.4 percent were tagged as “active cases,” with patients having mild or no symptoms at 94.4 percent.

The DOH also reported 6,127 recoveries to bring the number of COVID-19 recoveries to 1,397,403 or 94.9 percent of all cases.

The total death count meanwhile is now at 25,921 or 1.76 percent of all cases after 105 were reported to succumb to the disease.

The Philippines is only behind Indonesia in terms of COVID-19 cases in Southeast Asia with 2,491,006 cases, according to the latest data from Johns Hopkins University COVID-19 tracker.

As of posting, the global cases reached 186.4 million including 4 million deaths, according to the tracker.
