Fair weather expected in Luzon this weekend; Visayas, Mindanao will have rains due to ITCZ
MANILA, Philippines — Residents in most parts of Luzon can expect fair weather conditions during the weekend, while Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao will see cloudy skies and rains due to the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), the state weather bureau said on Friday afternoon.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), satellite images have shown thick clouds over Visayas and Mindanao — where the ITCZ, or the area where winds from the northern and southern hemisphere meet, is located.
No weather disturbance is expected within the Philippine area of responsibility during the weekend as the country still experiences a monsoon break, or a period where the prevailing wind pattern like the southwest monsoon does not affect weather systems.
Due to the monsoon break, most parts of Luzon would generally have clear skies on Saturday, like Metro Manila and Legazpi, which would have temperatures of 25 to 33 degrees Celsius. The cities of Laoag, meanwhile, will have temperatures ranging from 26 to 32 degrees, Tuguegarao with 26 to 36 degrees, and Tagaytay with 21 to 31 degrees.
Isolated rains may still occur over these areas, but not as frequent as in Puerto Princesa, where cloudy weather would bring temperatures of 25 to 31 degrees Celsius.

For Cebu and Davao, the ITCZ is still seen to cause rains over the two cities and their neighboring towns but weather conditions may start improving by Monday and Tuesday.
