Man nabbed for dynamite fishing in Zambales

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales – Police arrested Sunday a man allegedly engaged in illegal fishing in Sta. Cruz town.

Col. Romano Cardiño, provincial police director, said they conducted a seaborne operation that resulted in the arrest of Ricardo Meer.

Cardiño said Meer was caught using an air compressor while fishing in the waters of Barangay Bolitok.

Seized from Meer were his boat, the compressor, a Styrofoam container with about 10 kilos of assorted fish worth P700.

After the arrest, the police immediately coordinated with the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) in Masinloc town to identify the recovered fish for examination.

BFAR said the fish were caught with the use of dynamite. INQ
