Grab PH starts probe on fraudulent delivery booking victimizing Kris Bernal

Actress Kris Bernal

MANILA, Philippines — A ride-sharing and delivery service company has started its investigation on several bookings deceptively charged to an actress by someone who pretended to be her.

“Grab has a zero-tolerance policy on fraudulent activities. Upon learning of this incident, we have immediately conducted our investigation and we have blocked the mobile phone IMEI of the fraudster to avoid similar incidents from happening in the future,” Grab Philippines said in a statement Tuesday.

The company also said it is now working with Kris Bernal to resolve the matter and has already reimbursed its delivery partners who likewise became victims of the scammer’s sham bookings.

“Grab Philippines will continue to extend its cooperation with the local authorities in their investigation,” it added.

The investigation stemmed from an incident in which Bernal was deluged with multiple deliveries thru Grab but never booked for such service. She detailed her experience on her Instagram account.

According to Bernal, the scammer made several fake food delivery bookings in her name and had them delivered to her home. She also said this is not the first time that a scammer had used her name in making fake purchases. She even claimed that a scammer once pretended to be her assistant and asked for free services from products that the actress promoted.
