MANILA, Philippines — The supply of COVID-19 vaccine for first dose inoculation in Pasig City is also already dwindling and would only last for a few days, Mayor Vico Sotto said Tuesday.
Sotto said the city only has 11,000 doses left meant for first dose vaccination, which is expected to be all used “after a few days.”
“Sa ngayon, ang first dose ay nasa 11,000 na lang, after a few days mauubos na rin ito kaya inaasahan natin na makakatatangap pa tayo ng karagdagan supply ng bakuna,” he said in a televised public briefing.
(As of now, supply for first dose is only 11,000, after a few days this will be all spent.)
“Kulang na po talaga ito kasi ‘yung listahan natin araw araw dumadami yung gustong magpabakuna,” he added.
(This is already insufficient because everyday more people are signing up to get vaccinated.)
He said the city has a capacity to administer 7,000 doses per day. Pasig City has so far received over 250,000 doses of vaccines, 75,000 of which were administered as second dose.
Active COVID-19 cases in Pasig City is currently at around 200, which is a significant decrease from its peak of more than 3,000 cases.
Sotto said the number of cases are steadily decreasing and is expected to plateau.
“Overall downward pa rin ang trend,” he said.
At least seven local government units (LGUs) in Metro Manila have either suspended their first dose vaccination for COVID-19 or have limited their vaccination scope due to the depleting stock of anti-coronavirus shots.
These include cities Parañaque, Muntinlupa, Malabon, Valenzuela, Makati, Caloocan, and Pateros.
