Two cops hurt in Negros Occidental clash
MANILA, Philippines – Two policemen were left wounded while conducting combat operations at Sitio Tamlang, Brgy Libertad in Escalante City, Negros Occidental Sunday, a police report reaching Camp Crame Monday said.
Police Officer 1 Leonel Basto and PO1 Apolonio Panunciar, members of 6th Regional Public Safety Battalion led by Police Inspector Antonio Benitez suffered injuries in an encounter with around 40 alleged communist terrorists.
The policemen were brought to San Vicente Gustilo District Hospital in Escalante City, the report stated. Panunciar was later transferred to Bacolod City for further medical treatment.
