School teacher gunned down in Tagum City
TAGUM CITY, Philippines—A 29-year-old elementary school teacher was shot dead here by motorcycle riding gunmen on Independence Day, police said Monday.
Superintendent Juel Neil Salcedo, city police chief, identified the victim as Rolly Moreno, married and a teacher at Salvacion Elementary School in Sto. Tomas town, Davao del Norte.
Salcedo said Moreno had just arrived with his daughter onboard his orange-colored Kia Pride at his house in Visayan Village here around 6:05 p.m. when he was attacked.
One of the two assailants shot the victim several times using a .45 cal. pistol. The two then sped away.
Neighbors rushed Moreno to the nearest hospital where he died several hours later.
Salcedo said and investigation was ongoing to determine motive and track down the assailants.
