MANILA, Philippines — Senator Manny Pacquiao’s flight to Los Angeles, California, USA made an emergency landing in Japan due to a medical emergency of one of the passengers.
Pacquiao’s camp confirmed that the senator was one of the passengers of Philippine Airlines (PAL) flight PR102 which had to turn back after leaving for Los Angeles on Saturday night.
PAL spokesperson Cielo Villaluna told INQUIRER.net that one of the passengers required medical assistance which prompted the plane to make an emergency landing in Haneda, Japan.
The medical emergency was addressed after medical personnel in Haneda provided support to the passenger.
However, instead of continuing the flight to Los Angeles, the plane had to turn back to Manila because the landing permit issued to PR102 was only until midnight of July 3, Los Angeles time.
Villaluna said that the plane, carrying 186 passengers, would not have arrived on time due to the medical incident.
According to Pacquiao’s camp, the senator’s plane, as of writing, is now at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport and is set to depart at 2 p.m.
Pacquiao earlier said he will be flying to Los Angeles on Saturday for his “serious training” ahead of his August 21 bout with Errol Spence Jr.
