Car-truck collision kills 1 in Amulung, Cagayan

TUGUEGARAO CITY—A company supervisor died after his sport utility vehicle was rammed by a speeding 18-wheeler truck along the national road in Amulung, Cagayan on Wednesday.
Investigators identified the victim as Mario Usal of Aparri, Cagayan.
Usal was driving his vehicle along the highway in Barangay Babayuan at around 3:30 p.m. and reportedly tried to overtake another vehicle before colliding head-on with the truck owned by the Synergy Logistics Prime, Inc.
Rescuers brought Usal to the Cagayan Valley Medical Center in this city but was declared dead on arrival.
The truck driver, whose identity was not immediately known, was taken to the Amulung police for investigation.
A reckless driving charge will be filed against the suspect.
