COTABATO CITY — One person was killed while 26 others were arrested in a series of raids and arrest operations in Lanao del Sur on Tuesday (June 29).
According to Col. Rex Derilo, Lanao del Sur police director, the law enforcement operation in Balabagan town turned violent as one crime suspect he did not identify resisted arrest.
In the other operations, mainly serving arrest warrants against fugitives, 26 turned themselves in to authorities, Derilo said in a report to Brig. Gen. Eden Ugale, police director of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
The suspects were facing various charges such as drug trafficking, theft and murder.
In these operations, the police also seized five M-16 Armalite rifles, a .30-caliber Garand rifle, an M1 Carbine rifle, a 9mm Uzi machine pistol, five .45-caliber pistols, a .38-caliber revolver, six rifle grenades, two 40-millimeter grenade projectiles, and some 500 grams of meth or shabu.
Derilo said the arrested suspects are currently detained while preparations are underway to have them appear before the courts that issued the warrants for their arrest.
