MANILA, Philippines — At least 68 persons contracted mild COVID-19 out of the 2.1 million who were fully vaccinated or those who received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said Wednesday.

Of the 1.6 million vaccinees who were fully vaccinated with the Sinovac vaccine as of June 20, FDA Director-General Eric Domingo said 27 got COVID-19 within 14 days after getting their second dose while 33 got COVID-19 more than two weeks after getting their second dose.

“Zero po ang severe COVID o namatay sa COVID,” Domingo said in a televised briefing.

(No person got severe COVID or has died of COVID.)

Among those who received the AstraZeneca vaccine dose, Domingo said five persons got COVID-19 within 14 days after getting their second shot while one person got COVID-19 more than two weeks after their second dose.

This is just six vaccinees of more than 427,000 people who received two doses of the AstraZeneca jab, Domingo said.

Of the more than 14,700 who were fully vaccinated with the Russian-made Sputnik V vaccine, Domingo said only one person got mild COVID-19 within two weeks after receiving the second dose.

One person, meanwhile, suffered mild COVID-19 over two weeks after receiving the second shot of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.

“Meron pa rin pong nagkakaroon ng COVID pero kakaunting kakaunti po even after the first dose. But it drastically goes down after the second dose,” Domingo said.

(There are still persons contracting COVID but the number is just small even after the first dose. But it drastically goes down after the second dose.)

There were also 361 persons out of 5.8 million who received at least one dose of either the Sinovac or AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine who still contracted COVID-19.

The Philippines has surpassed the 10 million mark in the number of vaccine doses administered, with more than 2.5 million persons already fully vaccinated as of June 27.
