MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Leni Robredo’s “Vaccine Express” program would be expanded to Cagayan de Oro, House Deputy Speaker Rufus Rodriguez said Tuesday.

Rodriguez told INQUIRER.net that he met with Robredo’s camp to discuss and finalize the matter.

“Yes, we did meet on zoom. On the Vaccine Express, we will request vaccines from IATF. On Bayanihan E-Konsulta we are in process of finalizing it,” he said in a text message.

For the part of the Office of the Vice President (OVP), spokesperson Barry Gutierrez said they will soon announce the schedule of the project’s launching in Cagayan de Oro.

“Details are being finalized. We’ll announce as soon as there’s a definite schedule,” he said.

Rodriguez earlier appealed to Robredo to expand her “Vaccine Express’ initiative to Visayas and Mindanao as some areas are experiencing surges of COVID-19 infections.

To which, Robredo said the OVP is “very much willing.”

Robredo’s program was first launched in coordination with the Manila City government, where those who agreed to be vaccinated against COVID-19 received incentives.

Rodriguez earlier said no politics was involved in Robredo’s initiative to expand her COVID-19 vaccination project beyond Metro Manila.
