COVID-19 kills 101 more in PH; death toll rises to 24,557

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) reported Tuesday that COVID-19 claimed the lives of 101 more patients, increasing the nationwide toll to 24,557.

But DOH said total deaths only represent 1.74 percent of the 1,408,058 confirmed COVID-19 cases since the pandemic started last year.

DOH also reported that active COVID-19 cases in the Philippines now stand at 50,037 while the total number of recovered patients has reached 1,333,464 as of June 29.

The health agency noted that active infections consist of 2.1 percent severe cases, 1.5 percent critical or those who have a higher death risk, 90.4 percent mild, 4.4 percent asymptomatic, and 1.54 percent moderate cases.

Based on previous case bulletins, the average number of deaths reported per day from June 23 to 29 was 106 which is lower than the average 121 number of deaths reported per day from June 16 to 22.
