MANILA, Philippines — The national government is eyeing to administer 8 to 10 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines next month, Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., the country’s vaccine manager, said Monday during the weekly Palace briefing on the COVID-19 situation in the Philippines.
Galvez said that the government was able to accomplish its target of five million COVID-19 jabs administred this month.
For next month, the target will increase to 8 to 10 million, said Galvez.
“Our Național Vaccination Operation Center (NVOC), along with our LGUs [local government units], will endeavor to achieve 8 to 10 million doses to be administered for the month of July, global supply permitting,” Galvez said in Filipino.
“That’s our target for now — to administer vaccines of more or less 2 million every week,” he added.
According to Galvez, the country will receive an additional 99,600 doses of Moderna vaccine on June 29.
The country is also expecting to receive over 13.3 million doses of various vaccines in July.
According to government data, as of June 27, a total of 10,065,414 vaccine doses have been administered nationwide, of which 7,538,128 were first doses.
Meanwhile, 2,527,286 individuals have been fully vaccinated — that is, they have received the second dose of the vaccine.
