Fastball donates baseball equipment
THE CEBU City Sports Commission (CCSC) got much-needed help as they received several hundred items of baseball equipment from Fastball Sports ventures with the summer sports clinics on the horizon.
The items—comprised of bats, gloves, balls, batting helmets, catchers’ gear as well as baseball apparel—were turned over the CCSC chairman Edward Hayco and Executive Director Brando Velasquez by Fastball general manager and Cebu Little League president Jesse Bernad.
“This is Fastball’s way of saying thank you to CCSC for all the support they have given us the past year. Without CCSC, we wouldn’t have achieved our goals in 2011,” said Bernad.
“In the recent months, Fastball was able to establish connections with other baseball organizations in the U.S. and through constant communication with them and with the help of other US-based Filipinos, we were able to receive boxes of used but still serviceable baseball equipment. With summer fast approaching, lots of baseball activities will soon be held and we need to help our coaches in the barangays promote the sport. With these donated equipment, they can now play the game the right way with the right equipment,” he added.
