MPD nabs alleged drug peddler; confiscates P300K worth of ‘shabu’

MANILA, Philippines — Anti-narcotics operatives arrested a suspected drug pusher in Sta. Ana, Manila, resulting in the seizure of P306,000 worth of “shabu” or crystal meth.

Authorities identified the suspect as Mark Jayson Mayuga, 28, resident of Baclaran, Parañaque City.

According to the Manila Police District’s (MPD) Malate Police Station (PS-9), police officers conducted the bust along Zobel Roxas Street, corner Topacio Street, Sta. Ana, Manila at around 7:35 p.m. on Monday.

This resulted in the arrest of Mayuga, and the confiscation of  eight pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing white crystalline substance suspected to be “shabu.”

The illegal drugs have an estimated value of P306,000.

A P500 bill, used as buy-bust money, along with a black pouch was also confiscated by the anti-narcotics operatives.

According to the Manila police, the illegal drugs are currently with the MPD’s Crime Laboratory office for qualitative and quantitative examination.

Cases for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Dangerous Drugs Act, are being prepared for inquest proceedings against the arrested suspect who is temporarily detained at PS-9 custodial facility for bookings and documentations.
