MANILA, Philippines — The Office of the Vice President launched Tuesday the its Vaccine Express drive that seeks to inoculate tricycle and pedicab drivers and other essential workers under the A4 priority group.

Vice President Leni Robredo said the initiative was first rolled out in Manila, in cooperation with the national government and other private partners.

“Day 1 ngayon ng ating #VaccineExpress, na naglalayong mailapit sa mga sektor at komunidad ang pagpapabakuna kontra COVID-19,” Robredo said in a tweet.

(Today is Day 1 of our #VaccineExpress that aims to bring vaccination against COVID-19 closer to sectors and communities.)

The initiative eyed inoculation of on-the-go drivers and riders as part of the vaccination rollout to workers under the A4 category. Included in the A4 priority group are essential workers in the transportation sector, restaurants, retail stores, and markets, among others.

The Department of Health reported that 526,896 citizens under the A4 category have been administered their first vaccine doses while 8,086 are fully vaccinated as of June 21. — Faith Yuen Wei Ragasa, Inquirer trainee
