5,249 new COVID-19 infections drive PH active case count to 55,847
MANILA, Philippines — The number of active COVID-19 cases in the country is now 55,847 after the Department of Health (DOH) logged 5,249 new infections on Monday.
Most or 95.5% of the active cases either have mild or no symptoms, according to the DOH’s daily case bulletin.
The health department also recorded 7,053 recoveries, bringing the total to 1,284,643.
The death toll, meanwhile, reached 23,749 after 128 new deaths were reported.
All in all, there are a total of 1,364,239 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country.
Article continues after this advertisementDOH said it removed 23 duplicates from the total case count, including 16 recoveries.
Two cases found to have tested negative have also been removed from the total case count. DOH said the two cases are recoveries.
Meanwhile, 62 cases previously tagged as recoveries have been validated to be active cases and 45 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation, DOH said.
The health department said all labs were operational on June 19 but eight labs were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System.
