Bulacan starts COVID-19 vaccination of A4 priority group

CITY OF MALOLOS — Media workers and other A4 category vaccine beneficiaries, including personnel of the Philippine National Police and the Bureau of Fire Protection, and other essential frontliners have already been vaccinated against coronavirus disease (COVID-19) this week in Bulacan province.

Those vaccinated on June 16 were part of the total 6,841 first dose vaccinees and 1,925 second dose vaccinees in the A4 category.

As of Friday, June 18, the total first and second-dose vaccinees in Bulacan are at 293,758 in A1-A4 categories.

Hjordis Marushka Celis, Bulacan Inter Agency Task Force on COVID-19 assistant chairman, said A4 beneficiaries, that includes members of the Bulacan Press Club, police officers, fire personnel, social welfare office staffers, public service personnel like those with the National Bureau of Investigation, Regional Trial Court staffers and other government workers in the Bulacan Capitol Compound received their first dose of the SinoVac vaccine.

More than 42,000 SinoVac doses have arrived early this week. The next batch of beneficiaries in these groups is now being scheduled for vaccination.

The vaccinees were inoculated at the Bulacan Vaccination Center in The Pavilion of Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center at the Capitol Grounds.

Meanwhile, inoculation of the A5 category or the indigent community has just started with 104 first dose vaccinees and 14 second dose vaccinees on Saturday.

Celis told the Inquirer that the expected 70,000 Pfizer doses are expected to arrive on Monday and will be used on A1 to A3 beneficiaries or medical frontliners and health workers, senior citizens, and those with co-morbidities.

Bulacan Governor Daniel Fernando announced that Bulacan’s COVID-19 cases are already down by 43 percent but he continues to urge residents to observe the minimum health protocol as the province is placed under a more ease general community quarantine with some restrictions together with Metro Manila.

Bulacan has a total of 38,325 COVID-19 cases, 830 deaths, and 37,874 recoveries. The province also has 1,621 active COVID-19 cases.
