DPWH completes P12.9M farm-to-market road in Bukidnon town

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced on Saturday the completion of a P12.9-million farm-to-market (FMR) road in Barangay Butong in the municipality of Quezon in Bukidnon that will benefit farmers in the area.

Public Works Secretary Mark Villar said the project covers the concrete paving of the 654-meter local road with 1.5-meter shoulder both sides, reflectorized thermoplastic pavement markings, removal and installation of cross drainage with pipe end structures, removal and construction of grouted riprap line canal drainages and removal of obstructing trees.

“Concrete roads will surely improve product delivery of Barangay Butong farmers and hopefully, will double their income with lower transportation cost,” Villar said in a statement.

According to Villar, the DPWH constructs farm-to-market roads in coordination with the Department of Agriculture “to further promote inclusive growth by developing infrastructure that improves the living condition and livelihood of our farmers especially in far-flung areas.”
