Wanted: Over 700 healthcare workers in Metro Manila

MANILA, Philippines — Over 700 job vacancies for healthcare workers are still open in Metro Manila, Health Undersecretary and treatment czar Leopoldo Vega said Friday.

Vega said that of the around 3,500 positions recently opened in Metro Manila, 22 percent are still vacant.

“Mayroong mga 700 plus [positions] na bakante pa ngayon,” he said in an interview on ABS-CBN’s Teleradyo.

“Cadres ‘yan, lahat doctors, med techs, and nurses. Nagrerecruit pa rin kami dito sa Metro Manila for hospitals, both public and private na nangangailangan, at tsaka mga testing centers at isolation facilities. May mga 700 plus positions na ready,” he added.

(These are cadre positions for doctors, medical technologists and nurses. We are still recruiting for public and private hospitals, testing centers and isolation facilities in Metro Manila. There are 700 plus positions that are ready.)

Vega said the salary that will be offered to healthcare workers for the said positions are aligned with the salary standardization for said posts.

Meanwhile, Vega also said that the healthcare utilization rate in Metro Manila is at low risk with 48 percent utilization, while the ICU occupancy is at 51 percent, classified as low risk.
