155 more COVID-19 patients die; death count now 23,276

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) reported another 155 COVID-related deaths on Thursday, raising the fatality count to 23,276.
According to the DOH, this represents 1.74 percent of all the 1.33 million confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country since the pandemic began.
Of the total count, 58,407 remain active infections, of which 1.8 percent are severe and 1.3 percent are critical that are at higher risk for death.
The DOH said 95.6 percent of all the cases are mild and asymptomatic, while 1.3 percent of the cases are moderate infections.
The DOH reported a total of 966 deaths from June 11 to 17, or an average of 138 deaths being logged per day during the period.
Meanwhile, there were 956 deaths reported from June 4 to 10, or an average of 136 deaths.
The DOH Epidemiology Bureau earlier said it has observed a decline in COVID-19 deaths for the month of June. The country reported a total of 720 deaths from June 1 to 14 with a daily death average of 51 cases, much lower than May’s total of 3,000 deaths or an average of 97 deaths daily.
