Palace briefing cut short due to internet connectivity issues
MANILA, Philippines — Glitchy internet connection strikes again.
The briefing of Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque in Malacañang on Thursday was cut short due to poor internet connectivity.
In several instances during the middle of the question-and-answer portion, Communications Undersecretary Rocky Ignacio, who has been designated to read out questions sent by the media, was disconnected from the briefing.
This forced Roque to read out himself the queries sent by reporters and answer them.
In the end, Roque decided to cut the briefing short.
“I’m sorry we have lost internet connection. I will have to end the press briefing. For those with further questions, ipadala na lang sa ‘min at sasagutin namin by way of release,” he said.
He said he hopes the third telco will start offering its services so that the presidential briefing will proceed “unhampered because of dicey internet connection.”
He also asked to invite officials from the National Telecommunications Commission to the next briefing “so that we will at least ensure that the Presidential briefing, which I think is very important, can be broadcasted unhampered.”
“Sisiguraduhin ng Presidente na mas magiging mabuti ang internet service ng lahat bago siya bumaba ng kanyang termino,” Roque said.
