MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) recorded 5,414 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, with six non-reporting laboratories.

There are now 56,170 active COVID-19 cases in the country after the recovery of 7,637 more patients, the latest case bulletin from the DOH showed.

Overall, the country has reported 1,332,832 total confirmed cases of COVID-19. Of this number, 1,253,541 have already recovered.

Meanwhile, there are additional 158 patients who have died, raising the death count to 23,121, or 1.73 percent of all the cases.

The DOH said 13.7 percent of the 36,744 individuals who were tested for COVID-19 have tested positive on June 14.

Eleven duplicate entries, including seven recoveries, were removed from the case count.

“In addition, 2 cases were found to have tested negative and have been removed from the total case count. These 2 are recoveries,” the DOH said.

Another 375 cases initially tagged as recoveries have been validated to be active cases and 117 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation, according to the Health agency.

All laboratories were operational on June 14, but six laboratories were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System. Based on data in the last 14 days, the 6 non-reporting laboratories contribute, on average, 3.9 percent of samples tested and 3 percent of COVID-19 positive individuals.
