Senate resumes impeachment trial
MANILA, Philippines–The Senate sitting as an impeachment court resumed on Monday with the chamber expected to resolve the issue whether or not to obey the temporary retraining order TRO issued by the Supreme Court against the opening of dollar accounts allegedly owned by Chief Justice Renato Corona.
The resumption of the trial shortly before 3:00 in the afternoon marked the 16th day since it started last January 16, 2012.
It was the first time that the proceeding started late. It usually starts at 2:00 p.m. in the afternoon.
Before this, senators met in a caucus in the Senate to tackle the TRO.
