MANILA, Philippines — A 102-year-old woman has received her first dose of COVID-19 vaccine in Muntinlupa City on Monday, June 14.
According to the city government’s public information office, Lola Maria Mañas received her COVID-19 shot at the Festival Mall Upper Ground Floor Covered Parking vaccination site.
The Muntinlupa City government has been encouraging senior citizens to get their COVID-19 vaccine as an added protection against the adverse effects of the new coronavirus disease caused by SARS-CoV-2.
It urged the public to register via MunCoVac to get a schedule in the city’s vaccination sites.
As of June 11, at least 106,819 citizens have been vaccinated in Muntinlupa City. Of this number, 80,356 have already received their first dose while 26,463 have already completed their COVID-19 vaccine doses.
Muntinlupa City aims to inoculate 385,725 citizens, which is equivalent to 70 percent of its total population, in order to achieve herd immunity.
Meanwhile, the Department of Health said the country has so far reached 9.8 percent of the targeted population for herd immunity against the new coronavirus.
