DAR Cebu distributes 4T hectares of land in 2011

THE Department of Agrarian Reform Provincial Office (DARPO) Cebu has distributed a total of 4,458-hectare lot to 3,805 farmer beneficiaries in 2011.

Seven-hundred nineteen hectares of the awarded lots are Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP)- compensable, while 3,739 hectares are non-LBP compensable.

In DAR region 7, DARPO has the highest accomplishment distributing 47 percent of the target area of 9,439 hectares.

Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer Isaganie Yee was commended during the year-end assessment conducted by the DAR Central last Jan. 24-27 at Clark in Angeles City, wherein DARPO Cebu ranked first -in land acquisition and distribution (LAD) and in land survey activities.

DARPO Cebu ranked third nationwide in terms of volume in land distribution and sixth nationwide in terms of volume in land distribution involving LBP-compensable lands.

DARPO Cebu said it has launched 23 regular agrarian reform communities (ARCs) and seven special ARCs covering 12,862 beneficiaries.

In addition, DARPO Cebu provided three basic services to the beneficiaries such as social infrastructure local capability building, sustainable agribusiness rural enterprise development and access facilitation and enhancement services.

For this year, DAR Cebu is targeting to distribute 1,989 hectares for land.

Yee thanked the municipal agrarian reform officers and the provincial staff for hastening the land distribution in Cebu, extending legal assistance to to resolve agrarian cases and helping farmers make their newly acquired lands productive.
