MANILA, Philippines — At least six persons were injured after a cargo ship caught fire near the Delpan Bridge in Tondo, Manila Saturday.
According to a report from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), among those hurt were four crew members of the small cargo vessel MV Titan 8 that caught fire and two crew members of the nearby MV Princess Christine.
It was declared fire out at 2:57 p.m., an hour after the blaze was already under control at 1:54 p.m., said the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO).
Earlier, a third alarm status was declared at 9:10 a.m. It was raised to the fourth alarm at 12:35 p.m. then to the fifth alarm at 12:43 p.m., the Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP) said.
Around 40 residential houses were also affected by the blaze, but the extent of damage has yet to be determined.

The PCG said it has deployed its oil spill boom to control any possible oil spill incident.
Investigators have yet to trace the cause of the fire. The fire is still ongoing, as of this writing.
