CITY OF CALAPAN –– Occidental Mindoro Gov. Eduardo Gadiano tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday, June 7, he said in a Facebook post on Tuesday.
Gadiano said he experienced symptoms on Saturday, June 5, such as cough, body weakness, and fever, so he consulted health authorities and immediately isolated himself.
He underwent a Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction test on June 7 after an antigen test showed a positive result.
He appealed to those who interacted with him on June 3 and 4 to observe the necessary health protocols.
Gadiano also appealed for continued “support to frontliners, the new heroes who continue to fight for our country.”
As of June 6, the province has logged 1,094 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic started in March 2020. Of this figure, 156 are active cases, 908 are recoveries, and 30 are deaths.
