COVID-19 cases in Aurora drop to 11 in 3 days

MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga –– The province of Aurora recorded 11 new cases of COVID-19 from Friday to Sunday (June 4 to 6) after experiencing a surge last week.
The Aurora Emergency Operations Center registered six new cases on Sunday, three on Saturday, and two on Friday.
On June 2 and 3, the province logged 416 new cases.
The province’s emergency operations center said two residents of the capital town of Baler died of the viral disease on Sunday.
As of June 6, Aurora registered 1,483 COVID-19 cases, with 844 recoveries, and 47 deaths.
Article continues after this advertisementIt has 592 active cases, including Gov. Gerardo Noveras and Maria Aurora town Mayor Amado Geneta. The two officials were among the 2,741 Aurora residents who took the reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction tests from May 28 to 30.
Article continues after this advertisementNoveras contracted COVID-19 despite receiving his first dose of Sinovac vaccine on April 8 and the second dose on May 7.
The governor, who had a sore throat, said his condition could have been more severe had he not been vaccinated.
In a radio program Saturday, Noveras reminded his constituents to continue following protocols related to COVID-19.
He said the viral disease should not be taken lightly.
