1 dead, another injured in motorcycle-pickup truck mishap in Quezon
LUCENA CITY –– A motorcycle driver died, while his back rider was seriously injured after a pick-up truck hit their vehicle along the Maharlika Highway in Calauag town in Quezon province Friday, June 4.
The Calauag police reported that Michael Selem and his rider, Jocelyn Aganan, were seriously injured after a Mitsubishi Strada GLX pick-up driven by Primo Coo Jr. hit their vehicle on the highway in Barangay Binutas around 1:30 a.m.
Rescuers rushed the two riders to the hospital, but Selem died on the way.
The report said the truck driver tried to overtake the vehicle ahead of him but rammed the motorcycle from the opposite direction.
Major Lawrence Panganiban, Calauag police chief, said in a phone interview that both motorcycle riders were not wearing crash helmets when the accident happened.
