MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga –– Aurora province recorded Thursday (June 3) 184 new COVID-19 cases, its second-highest number of infections in a single day.
The provincial government reported 232 new COVID-19 cases in the previous day.
According to the Aurora Emergency Operations Center, the province now has 1,472 total cases, of which 612 are active.
The town of Maria Aurora has the most number of new cases at 109, followed by the provincial capital of Baler with 40 cases, San Luis town with 14, Dinalungan with 10, Dilasag with six, Dipaculao with three, and Casiguran with two new cases. The town of Dingalan did not report any new case.
Of the province’s 612 active COVID-19 cases, 188 are from Maria Aurora, 139 from Baler, 115 from Dingalan, 66 from San Luis, 53 from Dinalungan, 30 from Dipaculao, 15 from Casiguran, and six are residents of Dilasag town.
Most of the new patients since June 2 were among the 2,741 who participated in the aggressive community testing off-site operations from May 28 to May 30.
The testing was held in the eight towns by a medical team sent by the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Disease.
Aurora Gov. Gerardo Noveras was among those who took the reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction test during the mass testing of local government personnel and family members of active COVID-19 cases.
Noveras had also tested positive for the virus despite taking the first dose of the Sinovac vaccine on April 8 and the second on May 7. INQ
