MANILA, Philippines — Two men believed to be members of a kidnapping gang were killed after they allegedly shot it out with policemen in Laguna on Thursday afternoon.
According to a police report from the Laguna Provincial Command released at 4:17 p.m. Thursday, agents of the Philippine National Police’s Regional Intelligence Division’s Anti-Carnapping Unit received an alert about a Chinese national forcibly taken by a “notorious robbery and kidnapping group” aboard a white van at Aseana, Parañaque City.
Authorities launched patrols in the southern area of the National Capital Region. Later, they spotted the white van heading towards South Luzon Expressway (SLEX).
According to the police report, the men noticed law enforcers as they reached the Cabuyao Exit and opened fire at Silangan Exit around 2:10 p.m.
According to the Biñan City Police, two male suspects were killed in the ensuing shootout.
