MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga –– Aurora Gov. Gerardo Noveras has tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.
The governor disclosed this in his message to the people of Aurora that was posted on Facebook Thursday (June 3).
Noveras asked everyone, who had close contact with him in the past several days, to get in touch with provincial and municipal health offices.
He said, except for a pain in the throat, he generally felt well. He said vaccination against COVID-19 probably helped a lot.
“Kung hindi po ako marahil nabakunahan ay malaki ang posibilidad na mas malala ang epekto sa akin ng COVID-19, kaya sa mga natatakot at hindi pa handang tumanggap ng bakuna, sana po ay magbago na ang inyong pananaw at kayo ay magpabakuna na rin,” he said.
(Had I not been vaccinated, the possibility is big that the effect of COVID-19 on me would have been worse, so to those who are afraid and not yet ready to accept the vaccine, I hope you change your view and get inoculated.)
In a text message to the Inquirer on Thursday, Noveras said he got his first dose of Sinovac on April 8 and second dose on May 7.
The governor renewed his call for everyone to be vigilant against COVID-19, and to always abide by the minimum public health standards and the protocols implemented by the provincial and municipal governments of Aurora.
As of June 2, Aurora has 433 active COVID-19 cases, including the 232 new ones recorded on the same day.
The province has a total of 1,288 cases, of which 45 had died.
