Tornado rips through villages in Isabela town
TUMAUINI, Isabela — A 30-minute tornado tore through some villages here and toppled posts that caused a power interruption.
Villagers said the tornado swept through the farms around 4:30 p.m. following a series of lightning and thunder.
Romnick Nain, who captured the tornado on video, said the impact could have been devastating if the farmers in the villages of Malamag West, Lanna, Malamag East, Fugu Abajo, and Fugu Sur did not harvest their corn before it struck.
“We also took cover inside our houses because we were in danger of getting swept away by the strong tornado,” Nain told the Inquirer in a phone interview.
No injuries or fatalities were recorded, the local disaster risk reduction management office said.
