CEBU CITY – Cebu is preparing for the effects of Tropical Storm Dante after 36 towns and cities were placed under Signal Number 1 on Tuesday.
Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) chief Neil Sanchez said they already activated the Alert Level “Blue,” which means local responders will be closely monitoring and alert to respond to any incident.
The state weather bureau has hoisted Storm Signal No. 1 on Daanbantayan, Medellin, City of Bogo, San Remigio, Tabogon, Borbon, Tabuelan, Sogod, Tuburan, Catmon, Carmen, Danao City, Asturias, Balamban, Compostela, Liloan, Cebu City, Mandaue City, Lapu-Lapu City, Consolacion, Cordova, Toledo City, City of Talisay, Minglanilla, City of Naga, Pinamungahan, San Fernando, Aloguinsan, City of Carcar), including Bantayan and Camotes Islands.
The disaster management office is also urging fisherfolks not to sail out to sea.
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Cebu Station has already ordered the suspension of all types of voyages.
As of Tuesday morning, sea trips have already been canceled, leaving 287 passengers stranded in the various ports of Cebu.
Some 14 passenger vessels and 77 rolling cargo vessels were prohibited from sailing out of Cebu.
