Sea trips in Bohol suspended due to Tropical Storm Dante

TAGBILARAN CITY —The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)-Western Bohol has temporarily suspended all sea trips in Bohol on Tuesday due to Tropical Storm Dante (Choi-wan).

“Coast Guard Station Central Western Bohol is now enforcing temporary suspension of the voyage of all types of vessels and watercraft as proactive measures to avert maritime accidents plying in the areas of the province of Bohol,” Coast Guard Western Bohol said in a statement released on Tuesday morning.

Trips were also suspended temporarily from Ubay town to Hilongos and Bato, Leyte.

PCG said trips might resume once the storm signal will be lifted and the weather has cleared up.

Residents in the coastal areas of Tagbilaran City have experienced strong winds and big waves.

Resident Aida Terante said the seas became rough on Tuesday afternoon.

However, some residents came to beaches for a swim despite the inclement weather.

As of 10 a.m., the tropical storm was last estimated 235 kilometers east of Maasin City, Southern Leyte, moving northwest at 20 km per hour while packing 75 kph maximum winds near the center and gusts of up to 90 kph, Pagasa said.
