Poor consumers to enjoy subsidized power rates
Low-income power consumers will enjoy subsidized rates for a longer time. President Duterte has signed into law the measure extending the implementation of the lifeline rate, or subsidized power rates, for consumers living below the poverty line by another 30 years. Under Republic Act No. 11552, the lifeline rates would be implemented for 50 years instead of 20 years under the previous law. The Energy Regulatory Commission would determine the level of consumption, subsidy and rate.
