PH active COVID cases increase slightly to 54,290 with 6,648 new infections
MANILA, Philippines — Active COVID-19 cases in the country increased slightly after the Department of Health (DOH) reported 6,684 new infections on Monday, May 31.
DOH’s COVID-19 bulletin also showed that 6,098 COVID-19 patients recovered from the disease, for a total recovery count of 1,155,045. All in all, there are 1,230,301 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country.
Most of the patients or 93.3 percent of active cases have still exhibited mild symptoms only, while 2.2 percent were asymptomatic. At least 1.8 percent of the patients currently have severe symptoms while 1.4 percent are in critical condition.
Of the 44,278 tests conducted from May 29, DOH said that 13,7 percent tested positive.
In terms of COVID-19 bed capacity in the National Capital Region, 53 percent of intensive care unit beds have been utilized while 39 percent of isolation beds are occupied.
Article continues after this advertisementThe DOH said that 10 duplicate entries were removed from the total case count, of which six are recoveries and one was a deceased patient. Also, 57 cases previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified to deaths after further validation.
