The three-member board of commissioners of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) will be completed today (Monday) when soldier-turned-lawyer Siegfred Mison assumes his post as associate commissioner.
Mison, who was appointed by President Aquino, is expected to address BI employees at the flag-raising ceremony.
The board is chaired by Commissioner Ricardo David Jr., who was named BI head after he retired as Armed Forces of the Philippines chief of staff on March 8. Aquino also appointed lawyer Abdullah Mangotara, a former Lanao del Norte congressman, as associate commissioner.
The board is responsible for approving visa applications of foreigners and deciding deportation cases.
Mison graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York, in 1987. He took up law at the Ateneo de Manila University and obtained a master’s degree at University of Southern California in 2006.
