MANILA, Philippines — The low-pressure area (LPA) spotted east of Mindanao may develop within 36 hours into Tropical Depression Dante, the fourth storm to enter the country, the weather service said on Saturday afternoon.
In its 4 p.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the LPA was 1,085 kilometers east of Mindanao and moving northwest.
Pagasa also spotted another LPA located beyond the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).
It is possible that the LPA closer to the PAR may not make landfall and traverse the seas over the eastern section of the country, Pagasa weather specialist Raymond Ordinario said.
