LINAMON, Lanao del Norte—The local government of Lala town in Lanao del Norte has imposed a lockdown in its main commercial district after health authorities recorded 38 active cases as of Thursday.
The lockdown in Maranding village is effective from May 28 until June 11, based on an order of Mayor Angel Yap.
Maranding is the trading hub of Lala and several other neighboring towns. It hosts the town’s public market, several hospitals, department stores and tertiary schools.
In Yap’s order, Maranding is placed under enhanced community quarantine which means all government and private establishments will be closed, except those engaged in the delivery of essential goods and services.
The outlying villages of Abaga, Simpak and Rebe are on modified ECQ, while the rest of the town’s 23 villages are on general community quarantine.
The local government has issued quarantine passes to families to facilitate the movement of a member outside the home for accessing goods.
According to municipal information officer Renz Sumalinog, the town hall, located several kilometers away from Maranding, was closed for disinfection since Thursday and will be opened to the public on June 2.
