ILIGAN CITY, Lanao del Norte, Philippines — Stricter quarantine rules were imposed in Lanao del Norte’s capital town of Tubod after infections of the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) rose sharply within two weeks.

According to Vicmar Paloma, municipal disaster risk reduction and management officer, active cases in the town stood at 26 as of May 24.

This was almost a three-fold increase from only seven as of May 11.

Of the 26, 12 are residents of the town center which, upon the order of Mayor Leoncio Bagol, was placed under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).
