PH logs 5,310 new COVID-19 infections; active cases now at 46,037
MANILA, Philippines — The country’s active COVID-19 cases are now at 46,037 following the detection of 5,310 more cases of coronavirus infection.
The Department of Health (DOH) said active cases compose 3.9 percent of all the 1,193,976 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country since January last year.
Meanwhile, another 7,408 patients have recovered, bringing the number of recoveries to 1,127,770 — which is 94.5 percent of the overall count.
The DOH also said 150 more people have died, raising the death toll to 20,169, or 1.69 percent of all the cases.
Of the 36,630 people who were tested for COVID-19, 13.5 percent were found positive for the SARS-CoV-2 that causes the disease.
According to the DOH, all laboratories were operational on Monday but four laboratories were not able to submit their data on time. Based on data in the last 14 days, the four non-reporting laboratories contribute, on average, 1.1 percent of samples tested and 1.7 percent of positive individuals.
Six duplicate entries, including four recoveries, were removed from the total case count, while 86 cases initially tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.
