MANILA, Philippines — Hot and humid weather is expected to prevail in Luzon, while cloudy skies are observed in Visayas and Mindanao, the state weather service reported.

In its Wednesday morning report, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the weather in Luzon is caused by prevailing easterlies, while the intertropical convergence zone affects the weather in Visayas and Mindanao.

“Unfortunately on some parts of Visayas and Mindanao patuloy pa din ang cloudy skies at maulang panahon ngayong araw dahil sa intertropical convergence zone, mayroon namang localized thunderstorms sa certain areas sa Luzon dahil sa Easterlies o ang hangin sa Pacific Ocean so may kainitan naman ang panahon,” according to Benison Estareja, Pagasa weather specialist.

Meanwhile, Estareja also said a low pressure area remains in the Philippine area of responsibility at 825 kilometers east of Mindanao, but with a low chance of becoming a typhoon.
